Hi, I'm Roland Wit
I’m a 26-year-old Creative Technologist from the Netherlands with a passion for designing interactive applications and systems that can offer surprising experiences. I studied Creative Technology at the University of Twente, where I built a strong foundation in prototyping, user testing, iteration, and evaluation.
My Journey So Far
During my bachelor's, I discovered my interest in designing and developing educational applications, particularly for high school students. However, I realized that to design effective interventions, I needed a deeper understanding of psychology and human behavior. To address this, I enrolled in the Master’s in Human Computer Interaction at Utrecht University. This program has given me a stronger foundation in how psychological insights can inform design and interaction. I am currently working on my Master's thesis, and in March I will finish my education
View on educational applications in schools
Even though I enjoy working on educational projects, I notice many challenges in actually creating and designing educational applications for highschools. I see a problem in entering this domain, as it is quite competitive with larger educational publishing companies in the Netherlands, as they ultimately decide what gets included in school curricula. There are many requirements and protocols that protect high school education, that sadly limit creativity and effectiveness. Many excellent extracurricular programs such as Squla teach children valuable topics, but I believe that meaningful change in the education system has to come from within the curriculum itself.
What drives me now
In November 2025 I started to work as Learning and Development Advisor at Atlant in Apeldoorn, I was specifically asked to join their team to create and design both educational and coaching applications for coworkers. Atlant is a Dutch care organization providing long term care and support for people with intellectual disabilities. I very much like how I can use my creative problem-solving skills to develop quick working prototypes here that solve problems. I am the only technical person with knowledge on coding and prototyping in the team and this allows me to contribute meaningful work, which is very rewarding for me.
Future plans
There is a small disconnect between my current work, where I create educational and support applications for healthcare workers, and with designing educational applications that help high school students. There is still a part of me that would love to end up creating applications for high school curriculum, or to create interactive experiences for museums. However as I am currently working a job that I enjoy, and where I learn a lot regarding creating such applications, I would love to continue working here for the coming years.
